Barbie with Autism Makes Her Debut, Comes with a Fidget Spinner and Sensory-Sensitive Clothes
Mattel partnered with the Autistic Self Advocacy Network (ASAN) to create a Barbie with autism. The doll comes with features like headphones, a fidget spinner and sensory-sensitive clothing.
Developing the doll took over 18 months and was done in partnership with the Autistic Self Advocacy Network, a nonprofit organization that advocates for increased representation for those in the autism community.
For the first time, a Barbie doll with features designed to account for the ways in which individuals with autism experience the world is hitting the market.
