DETROIT - A Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect for Southeast Michigan until 1 p.m. today. During this time, areas could see 1 to 3 inches of snow across the region, with the higher amounts falling between I-94 and I-69.
It’s expected to be extremely cold beginning Friday morning in Metro Detroit. The National Weather Service has issued a Cold Weather Advisory for 1 a.m. Friday, Jan. 23, to 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 24, for dangerously cold wind chills as low as 25 below zero.
Hundreds of Metro Detroit schools issued closing notices for Friday, Jan. 23, in response to the dangerously cold air.
Weather service officials said dangerous sub-zero wind chills are expected through Saturday morning and again Sunday morning.

The weather forecasts for Friday through Sunday have resulted in some venue closings and event cancellations in Metro Detroit.

One to three inches of snow are expected Wednesday morning in Metro Detroit. The snow fades by the afternoon, with only a drizzle in the forecast later in the day. Temps rise to near freezing today before the frigid cold returns quickly.
The brutal temperatures and sub-zero wind chills are forcing many communities to cancel events this weekend, except here in Detroit.
