Completed 2 long years of research in the Everglades while being in grad school and it was a journey. My research was focused on flocculent organic matter (like soil, but looser) and I experienced and learned so much along the way. I even published a paper about my research. My research in the Everglades about flocculent organic matter is important because it gives us insight about carbon storage and fluxes in subtropical wetlands, which is the broader implication. My research specifically focused on rates of metabolism (primary productivity and respiration) and biogeochemical variables (carbon, nitrogen, phosphorus and chlorophyll-a). #biologist #researchscientist #biology #ecology #stem
